March 28th, 2016 - Transfers!

My dear family and friends!

Today is transfers! I've been transferred once again. My new area is called Alvorada and I'm about 10 minutes away from the mission office (walking). My new companion is Sister Prock, she's from Minas (Brasil) and has been out on her mission for a year. She was also trained by Sister Angulo, my first trainer here in Brasil. She's such an amazing missionary! I wanted to serve with her and the Lord has blessed me because now she is my companion. I'm so excited to see what will happen these next few transfers.
My new companion, Sister Prock

We are the Sister training leaders here in Fortaleza. I'm excited to have this new role and I know that I will learn so much as I serve these Sister Missionaries.
I'm sad that I left my other area, but Sister Costa and I ended our time together very well. I will explain a little of what happened this last week. Sister Costa and I didn’t have anyone that we were really sure would be baptized Sunday, so we prayed and felt strongly about Gabriella and Graziella who are sisters. We have been teaching their family, but their parents need to get married before they can be baptized, so we focused this week on their daughters. It was a miracle to see the changes and what had happened with them. They both received answers about the church this week, but still weren’t sure if they would be baptized. On Friday night we took them to a play that was put on by the church for Easter called Jesus , O Cristo (Jesus the Christ). They felt the spirit strongly when they were watching the play and they decided that they wanted to be baptized together this Sunday!
Baptism last week of Gabriella and Graziella

On Sunday they were baptized! It was a tender mercy from the Lord because we didn’t have much time to work in our area this week due to other things. Easter was perfect! We ate tons of candy (Thanks to the package from you mom!) and enjoyed a few of the easter traditions here. This Easter was different from any other Easter. This Easter we had ward conference, then the baptism, and then we worked for a few hours ending with watching the Women's General Conference! We decided that during the day we would teach about the resurrection of Christ. We sang hymns to all of our investigators and bore testimony of our Savior. I came to realize the true importance of Easter and received many answers during the conference.

I was very happy that I was able to watch the women's general conference. It was all about service! It was perfect for what had happened. As we were walking to the conference I received the call that I would be the Sister training leader. I felt very unworthy of this calling, but I know that God has a purpose for everything. I started to pray in my heart for the Lord to give me counsel. I was very happy when the conference was all about service! I received many answers! I'm so grateful that God responds to our prayers!
The Chicken

Now the funny story of the week.. One day we didn’t have lunch at a house of a member, but the member bought food for us to prepare in our house. We carried the food to our house without knowing what she bought for us. We got to the house to start preparing lunch and I opened up a bag and there was a dead chicken looking at me!!! I screamed and closed the bag. My companion and I laughed for minutes and what was happening and we decided that we needed to cook the chicken. We took it out of the bag and cut off the head and prepared the chicken. The whole time I was just thinking how mom would be so proud of me! Haha.

I'm still loving every minute of my mission! I'm so grateful for all of these experiences I am having. I am turning into the person that I know God wants me to be. I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that they live. I know that they give direction to us personally and to the church through prophets. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet here on the earth today. I'm so excited to hear from him this Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss out! They will say exactly what we need to hear!

I love you all so much! Thank you for all your support.
Love,
Sister Unbedacht

March 21st, 2016 - Easter Week

Hello! Hello!

I'm doing so great! This week was a wonderful week with Sister Costa. I'm so grateful that I'm serving here in Messejana and for all the experiences I'm having.

This week I learned a lot about the attributes of Christ. Christ is the BEST example. I'm trying to learn to have more patience, love, charity, hope, and diligence.

I'm loving this area. The members are awesome and they are helping us a lot in the work. This ward has 2 companionships, it's Sister Costa and I, and Sister Fernandes and Sister Pasqualini. We all live together. It's great! I have learned a lot with them. We have all had our trials together, but we have a great love for one another. There are many families in this ward that are so amazing! I hope to stay here for the next transfer! Also, this past week we got Churrasco. Churrasco is a meat and it's so yummy. Best meat around!
Sister Costa and I

In the last General Conference Elder Lawerence gave a wonderful talk on “What lack I yet?” I have given much thought to this talk. He said, “humbly ask the Lord the following question, like what is keeping me from progressing? Then wait quietly for a response.” I have thought a lot about this. As I have prayed to receive an answer, the Lord let me know exactly what I need to improve right now. It was a simple thing... Smile more. I have focused on this and I have seen that it is helping a lot! Ask this question for yourselves, I know the Lord will give you an answer so you can continue to progress.

As I have thought about Elder Lawerence's talk, I have also thought about a scripture that is in The Book of Mormon. In Moroni 10:32 it says, `Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ.' What are the things that we need to deny ourselves so we can draw closer to Christ? The things we need to work on, denying them.. which means that we need to ACT. Just some thoughts for the week.

I am so grateful for my opportunity to serve the Lord. As it is Easter week, I want to bare my testimony of the Saviors resurrection. I know that he Lives. I know that he loves us and that Christ leads HIS church here on the earth Today. I know that he overcame death and because of Him we will as well. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I feel very honored to represent him here in Brasil. He is my redeemer, my example, my friend. I am so grateful for him!

I hope that you all can remember this week of the Love that Christ has for all of us!

HAPPY EASTER!

Love,

Sister Unbedacht

March 7th, 2016 - Quick Update!

Hello my family and friends,

I'm so sorry that this letter will be very short, I've been so busy and have so much to take care of today. I absolutely love my mission and I'm doing really well. I will just explain the pictures!

1. This past week we went to Castelão! It's the place that Germany and Brasil played for the World Cup! It is HUGE!!!

2. This past week we were witnesses for a wedding! We went to the middle of Fortaleza (close to the beach) and got to see this beautiful couple get married!

3. Mateus (14 years old) was baptized! He is so cool! I loved being able to teach him!

Have a wonderful week!

Love you all so much,
Sister Unbedacht

February 29, 2016 - It's Been A Great Week!

This week we had a huge miracle! The area I'm serving in now hasn't seen much movement for awhile and it's hard to get new investigators, but we were able to help a 13 year old girl prepare for baptism and her baptism was on Sunday! Amanda is an amazing girl! She has such a strong testimony! I love teaching her!

On Tuesday we had mission conference. It was so great! We learned a lot about loving our companions and obedience. I have learned so much about obedience here on the mission.

On Wednesday we went to the center of Fortaleza to sign for a wedding that we will have this next week. We were so close to the beach! We just had to walk another block and I would see the beautiful ocean and sandy beach, but President Fusco said to go to the place to sign and return, so I didn't see the beach! One day!

Yesterday in church they talked a lot about Seminary and Institute. I remember that I didn't put much importance to these two things, but I know now that when I return home I want to go to institute to help learning more! For those who have the chance.. go to seminary or institute! It really will help!

Well, that is all for this week. It was a good week and we are preparing for a very good week this week!

Love you all!

Love,

Sister Unbedacht
