June 28th, 2016 - Another Wonderful Week!

Minha familia,

Sorry that I didn’t write yesterday, we were at our last mission conference with President Fusco, so we didn’t have any time. Yesterday was such an amazing day for many reasons. 1st , It was the birthday of the most amazing lady in the world. Happy birthday MOM!!! 2nd, I felt the spirit very strongly as we learned more about our Savior. 3rd, We have a new missionary with us in our house, She is from Fortaleza and will only serve with Sister Pasqualini for a month, but she will stay in our ward so we can help them. Lastly, I learned more about how to prepare for when I get home.
Sister Andrew and I

I'm feeling so grateful today for leaders in the church and the things that they teach us. I am so grateful for President Fusco and Sister Fusco and for everything they did for me here on my mission. They have become wonderful examples to me. I'm so excited to see what will happen next with President and Sister Leite. I know that they will really help this mission.

This week was a great week. We worked very hard and our worked showed by the baptism of Gabriel. I'm so grateful for all of these young men we are finding and helping because one day all of them will be serving missions helping other people come to know Christ. I don’t have the words to express how grateful I am for the people here and for the experiences I am having. I have never been so tired in my life, but I have never been so happy. I know that serving a mission has been the best thing for me because of all I have learned.

I don’t have much to write but I would like to bare my testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He lives. He loves us. He suffered for each one of us and because of Him we can have eternal families and eternal happiness. He really is the son of God. He really did perform miracles. He really resurrected. He is real. He is perfect. He is my Savior and Redeemer and I love him with all my heart.

Thank you for everything family.
Have a wonderful week!

When we arrived in the MTC together we always wanted to be companions and we always joked that we would be Sister Training Leaders together on our last transfer.. and it happened! I will finish my mission here in Alvorada. I'm so excited!

This week was wonderful because I saw Sister Nicoli. She will be training this transfer. I'm so happy for her.. and it's awesome because I will look after her. To finish out this week we had the baptism of Romulo, It was incredible. I absolutely love serving the Lord. I love being a missionary!

June 13th, 2016 - Transfers Today!

Querida familia,

What a strange feeling… only 1 transfer left. I'm trying to enjoy every second that I have here in Brasil. Today is transfer day. We still haven’t heard what officially will happen, but I have a feeling that this transfer will be amazing. I'm so grateful for this past week and what happened. Sister Bispo had her 41st birthday and her present was a baptism! Isaac, a young man, was baptized on June 9th. It was such a wonderful baptism. The Lord really is blessing us every day. Also, this week I had my mission birthday of 16 months in the field (we count by months here). I cant even believe how fast time is passing by.. I'm hoping that this next transfer slows down.

On Tuesday we had the privilege of hearing from Elder Christensen from the Seventy. This mission conference was amazing! I loved the things that I learned. They focused a lot on the Book of Mormon and how we need to use it more in our work and how we need to strengthen our testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was what his wife said that really touched me. She talked about being holiness to the Lord. The word holiness means consecrated and committed. We need to be committed to the Lord like he is committed to us. This is something that we need to do throughout our whole lives, not only as missionaries. I made goals on how I would be more committed to the Lord here on my mission and when I get home. It's so important to center our lives on Christ, it is the only way we really will be happy.

This morning I was studying about faith and read a talk by Sister Oscarson from this last General Conference. She asked a question that I ended up reflecting on for awhile during my study, she asked, “if we really believe these things”? I thought about how my whole life I have heard that this church is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet and how the church was restored. These are things that I have grown up hearing, but I started to ponder if I really believed these things. As I was pondering I felt a great peace that confirmed to me that all of this is true. I really do know and believe that these things are true! I'm so grateful for the spirit and that he testifies to us of the things that are true.

I love you all.. very very much! Thank you for everything! I am so blessed!
Make this week the best week ever.. and don’t forget to center it on CHRIST.

Com amor,

June 6th, 2016 - Doubt Not, But Be Believing.

Hello my dear family,

This week was a very spiritual week, and I'm so grateful for everything that happened. To start off my week I got to see the first missionaries from Iguatu! When I was serving in Iguatu, there were two girls (sisters) that would always help us out. Carla and Camila are some of the first members in Iguatu and now they're ready to serve their missions. I was so happy to see them before they left for the MTC.

This week we focused a lot on the Book of Mormon. We had a goal to have a spiritual experience with the Book of Mormon during every lesson. As we used the Book of Mormon in every lesson, I could tell the spirit was stronger. President Fusco promised that if we studied and focused on the Book of Mormon this week that we would strengthen our testimony, this is what happened... On Friday morning I was studying in Mormon 8, then I stopped reading and started to ponder about the things he wrote. As I was pondering I felt something different, and I started to feel a huge love for the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It's amazing! I know that it was written for us to learn and to grow.

As I was reading this morning I came across a sentence that I absolutely love. In Mormon 9 verse 27 it says, “Doubt not, but be believing.” This is something that I was actually focusing on this week. We have been teaching Mikaely for 2 weeks, and she has been the most amazing investigator. Mikaely is a mother of a 2 year old and she is married, but her husband has been in São Paulo for a month. We met her the day that she moved to a new house in our area. I have never had an investigator that has searched as much as she has for the truth. We saw the adversary doing everything to stop her from being baptized this week. She had a lot of fear that her husband wouldn't support her and that she would be judged. We spoke a lot about having trust in the Lord and to not fear. On Sunday she was baptized. Her baptism was so amazing! As she came out of the water she was crying and she said that she received a confirmation that all of this is true. I'm so grateful for this miracle this week.

This week we also had a service project. This service project was one that entailed a lot of insects, rodents and snakes. We saw rats, spiders, cockroaches, snakes and many ants. I love being able to serve!
I hope that this week is an amazing week! Continue to read the Book of Mormon and have spiritual experiences with it EVERY DAY!

May 30th, 2016 - Many Miracles This Past Week.

Hello Hello!

I am so happy to say that this past week we experienced many miracles! God is amazing! I'm so grateful for him and his love for us! Sister Bispo and I had a better week as we found people that actually wanted to hear our message! There are still people rejecting the message, but there are a few who really are interested. It is wonderful!

We are now teaching some families and some other people that are ready. I know that God saw that we were working with all our hearts and so now he is giving us the blessings for our work. I'm so grateful that God does this! Many people want Heavenly Father to give them everything they need without working for it. I'm so grateful that he lets us work, and then he will help us continue and give us rewards. We are planning to have some wonderful baptisms in the following weeks.

Last week was the baptism of Gabrielle. She is darling! Her cousins are members of the church, but her mom wouldn't ever let her be baptized. This week we finally helped her mom understand the importance of baptism and now we are helping her parents get married, so that they can be baptized.

One of the things that we were having a lot of difficulties with, was people at church. We were working very, very hard this past week and we saw a miracle with 9 investigators at church. This is a lot better than before, but we still have a lot of room to improve. My heart is so full of gratitude right now. I've learned so much and I've realized how blessed I really am.

Last week we had 2 exchanges. One of the exchanges was with the Sister serving in Castelo (my old area). I had the opportunity to return and actually see a few of my recent converts there. I was so happy to see that they are going strong and are changing. It was awesome to see as well that many of the people I found there are going to church and preparing to be baptized. Many times as missionaries we don't get to see the fruits of our work, but when we are working we really are planting seeds everyday.

Something different that happened this past week is that I ate crab for the first time in my life. Thursday was a holiday and so many members went to the ocean. We were passing by the house of a few members that were at the beach earlier that morning and they were eating crab, so they shared some with us.. it was great!!! I loved it!

I am very happy and I am so grateful to be here on the mission!
I love you all!

Love, Sister Unbedacht

May 23rd, 2016 - My Testimony Continues To Be Strengthened.

Eu não acredito que hoje é p-day! Tempo passa tão rápido!  This week was a challenge, but it has helped me strengthen my testimony. In the ward I'm serving in there are two companionships, the assistants of President Fusco and us. We had to divide the area this week and it ended up that we are now working in an area that the missionaries have done a lot of work. We were trying to find new people to teach and everyone we spoke to said that they had already talked to the missionaries and don’t want to hear anymore. I've never met people in Brasil that are so blunt as they are here in this area. My companion and I were in shock as we couldn’t find anyone that wanted to hear our message.

We've been told that the people in this area are pretty wicked, that they don't need God in their lives. Yesterday we had a very hard day as almost everyone was rejecting us. We then started to think about examples of missionaries in the Book of Mormon, where the same thing was happening to them. As Alma was preaching to the people they said they didn’t want anything. He wasn’t planning to return to the city and as he was leaving he was feeling sorrowful for the wickedness of the people, that is when he was told to return to the city and to have faith in the Lord. He returned and found Amulek. They baptized thousands and helped many people! I know that God gives us trials to make us stronger and I know that this will happen to us.

I don’t have much to say this week. We dropped off Sister Cisneros at the airport. She is now in Mexico. Also, I am learning so much in the scriptures right now, I'm studying 3 Nephi.. it is WONDERFUL!

I love you all so much!
